50 Days to 50 Years: Day 19, Hope for the next Generation

13 07 2016

“We’re hiring. Get off that protest line and put an application in. And we’ll put you in your neighborhood, and we will help you resolve some of the problems you’re protesting about.” — Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown

David-Brown-1024x688

I do not have any children of my own, but I do have grand nieces and nephews; and I mourn for the world we are making for them. Just looking at our two presidential choices lets you know that we lack integrous leaders who can speak to the tragedies we have been facing, and offer an example for our children to look toward.

Like cream, Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown has risen to the top. With the recent murders of four Dallas police officers, his handling of the ongoing situation, as well as his honest and forthright assessment of the role of police in society, and being a black man in uniform has been refreshing, transforming, and has set a much needed tone in the conversation of police brutality and urban violence.

A New York Times article said, “He was hurting, self-effacing and, as he put it, a little fried. At a news conference on Monday, he spoke about the crisis facing law enforcement, his experience as a black man in Texas, guns and division, and what kept him going — ‘God’s grace and his sweet, tender mercies, just to be quite honest with you.'”

Another refreshing thing: someone who speaks of God and actually means it.

I believe Chief Brown will be a voice in these days of unrest. My prayer is that more leaders like him begin to rise; our nation, and the next generation, desperately needs them.

Illustrating Absurdity: Rachel Dolezal wins the “WTF” award

12 06 2015

11406532_10153144472037670_2046971547255303365_o

This is a comedy sketch that’s writing itself. Rachel Dolezal, head of the Spokane chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. has been “passing” as black. She was born Caucasian and raised by two white parents who apparently grew tired of her deception—so they’ve outed her.

I’ll give you a moment to let that sink in.

Armed with pictures and a birth certificate, Lawrence and Ruthanne Dolezal are taking to newspapers, cable and network news shows to let the world know this Black activist who has filed police reports about nine different hate crimes perpetrated against her, who is touted as an academic expert on African-American culture, and teaches African-American studies classes at Eastern Washington University is their estranged daughter who is… white.

After the obvious jokes and the laughter subsides, you then start to think about how many people this fraudulence hurts, not in the least her Caucasian parents.

I explore the role of the feckless N.A.A.C.P. in this mess, and social media reaction over at Communities Digital News: The self-loathing Rachel Dolezal marks the irrelevant N.A.A.C.P.’s demise.

In the meantime, listen to her seemingly shell shocked parents talk about the daughter who has rejected them and her race, because #whitelivesdontmatter.

Who Cares Meme

So what is capturing the public’s attention this week? Solange Knowles trying to kick the stuffing out of Jay-Z in an elevator, and Michael Sam’s Gay Kiss. I care about both these subjects as much as I care about dyeing my hair blonde (Nil, Nada, Zip). But the media and the publicity whores are going to try to make me care… or else

What I do care about are people constantly trying to shove something down my throat, and media bias; but I’m repeating myself. Thank you, Matt Walsh, for caring enough to articulate this. Read on…

This is my homophobic rant against Michael Sam | The Matt Walsh Blog.

In My Orbit: Merry Christmas, Happy Boxing Day, and Happy New Year!

26 12 2013

Electronic Christmas Card 2013

Greetings, fellow turners. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas full of love and good food. I feel a day late and a dollar short over not posting an Advent or a Christmas post, but my sentiments are the same no matter what the time of year–may you be blessed, well, and fulfilling your life’s purpose!

My Washington Times Communities column is humming along swimmingly! I continue to beat the drum on Obamacare, its deficiencies, and its abject failure on delivering little of what it has promised. As a Christmas present(?) to Americans, the Obama administration hacked away at the individual mandate to help out those whose individual policies had been cancelled due to the new Obamacare regulations. Make sense? Didn’t think so, but not much does with this convoluted law. Give it a read: The Obamacare individual mandate death watch.

Over at Examiner.com, the ever-changing world of the film industry continues to stay in focus. I was recently asked by KCET to review a series called Bridge to Iran, and to interview its host Parisa Soultani. I gained insight and an education into a minority group that makes up a huge chunk of the Los Angeles population, yet remains shrouded in mystery. I hope that the review and conversation with Parisa removes a bit of that shroud. Give those a read, if you get a chance: Artist Profile: Parisa Soultani uses media to connect to a higher essence; and, TV Series review: Bridge to Iran spotlights Iranian filmmakers.

My holiday was filled with family concerns and family joys, but I count this as one of the best Christmases we have had in a long time. I pray 2014 brings you renewal and joy to your world.

The Obamacare Follies

29 10 2013

obama-then-i-said-if-you-like-your-health-plan-you-can-keep-it

The Girl has been covering the Debacle that is the Obamacare rollout over at my Washington Times Communities column. Click the links below and give them a read.

Will America survive Obamacare’s implementation? This was written two weeks before the October 1 implementation, and some of my commenters scoffed at me. One word: Schadenfreude.

Like comparing Apple to Obamacare. Week 1 of the rollout went exactly as I suspected, and the administration had the nerve to compare themselves to Apple! Cue the laughter.

This is not the Obamacare exchange you were looking for. No kidding… Two weeks later and still a mess.

The Obamacare exchange’s lack of security. If you’re an identity thief or a fraudster, the HHS has given you an open invitation with Healthcare.gov and the Navigator program to easily steal from people. Low-hanging fruit.

Conservatives on Obamacare: we told you so. Yeah… enough said.

Back in February, Stephen Dinan of the Washington Times reported on the seven million who would lose the employer-based health insurance under Obamacare. That was the CBO’s conservative estimate. Now that the biological waste matter has finally hit the circular wind conductor, liberals are now losing their minds, along with their health insurance.

CBSNews.com of all places is reporting that 2 million people with individual plans (read: self-employed) have been booted from their health insurance thanks to Obamacare:

“There have been estimates about hundreds of thousands of people losing coverage, CBS News’ Jan Crawford reported on ‘CBS This Morning.’ CBS News has reached out to insurance companies across the country to determine some of the real numbers — and this is just the tip of the iceberg, Crawford said. The people who are opening the letters are shocked to learn they can’t keep their insurance policies despite President Obama’s assurances to the contrary.

“The White House is on the defensive trying to explain it, after Mr. Obama repeatedly said, ‘If you like your doctor or health care plan, you can keep it.'”

Obamacare: more than 2 million people being booted from existing health insurance plans.

The New Yorker–another publication that could not be described as conservative, brilliantly mashed up the many times our dear President made this promise. Social media cuts both ways.

If You Like Your Plan-Supercut

You didn’t actually think President Obama meant that, did you? If you did, I have some beachfront property in Death Valley I’d like to sell you.

Debra J. Saunders of the San Francisco Gate reports that the head of Covered California estimates up to 900,000 Californians will lose their health plans on December 31. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

So it’s not just the conservatives and Republicans who are calling the Obama administration on the carpet for the lies, now average Americans who are being adversely affected by the implementation of this nightmare are screeching. Amazingly enough, the mainstream outlets are actually doing what Rush Limbaugh likes to call “Random acts of journalism”. Who would have thunk?

Health and Human Services Secy Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to testify before the the House Commerce Committee on Wednesday. While she planned to throw the technology contractors under the bus, these contractors stole her thunder by leaking to CNN a confidential report essentially saying that the administration had been warned that Healthcare.gov was not ready for primetime; but they charged ahead anyway. Hubris, thy name is HHS.

The Carney is doing his usual doublespeak and blame, but this time nobody is buying it. He has actually been getting tough questions from the White House press corps. Even the usual shills like Matthews and Co. over at MSNBC seem to be waking from their Kool-Aid hangovers on this one.

The plot thickens, and with Sebelius’ testimony, there will be much to write about. In the meantime, I leave you with two more videos that illustrate the lies, incompetence, and rank arrogance that characterizes this presidency.

In My Orbit: The Long Weekend…

Happy Friday, and Happy Memorial Day weekend! Lots swirling around the universe today, particularly in the political realm. My Washington Times Communities column outlines the Scandalpalooza currently plaguing the Obama administration:

“President Obama continues to deny accountability over the crises affecting three major arms of his administration: the State Department, the Treasury, and the Department of Justice. Either the President is an incompetent leader or a dishonest one.”

Read the rest here: Obama’s incredible shrinking presidency.

Locally, the Mayor election is over, and we will soon swear in Mayor-elect Eric Garcetti. Frankly, I’m relieved–I’m no fan of Garcetti, but the amount of union money poured into Wendy Greuel’s campaign was sickening. If nothing else, the 22 percent of the Los Angeles electorate who bothered to vote (so abysmal) truly understood the stakes and voted accordingly. Bravo to you! To the rest, go live someplace else and take your apathy with you–we have a city that needs to be saved.

Another L.A. election that didn’t cross my radar was for the LAUSD School Board. Apparently Monica Ratliff, a 5th-grade teacher in the school district won, even though she was outspent 42 to 1 by her opponent Antonio Sanchez.

Sanchez was heavily backed by SEIU, LACFL, Villar-itardo’s Coalition for School Reform (What. A. Joke.), and even Nanny Bloomberg of New York to the tune of 2.2 million! The blogger concluded, “One political analyst described the result as proof the ‘allure of the candidates’ can negate the effects of big money.”

Yes, it can! Let’s get some good candidates who stand for something onto the local and national stage–we got lots of hacks with money of which to rid ourselves.

Okay, for many it’s a Holiday weekend, so I’ll get off the Poli-Junkie soapbox now, and put on my tech-geek hat. I read this great article on TechCrunch, “Why Does Hollywood Hate The Future?“:

“Where is the It’s a Wonderful Life set in 2150? Are a few scenes from Back to the Future Part II really the best we got?

Again, I think the answer is that we already live in a technological utopia of sorts. No, the world isn’t perfect, but the recent advances in technology have given us so much. And people go to the movies to escape reality. It’s just too bad that science fiction films have essentially become horror movies.”

I like his ending, and the rest is equally thought provoking. Give it a read.

I’ll end with my favorite Friday song from The Cure, as well as my favorite John Ondrasik tune in honor of our soldiers. To those who died in service to our country, I honor you this weekend. Freedom isn’t free.

Happy Friday!:

Honor a fallen veteran, and give a kiss to the one’s still leading the charge:

Epic Fail: About that “Laser Focus” on Jobs…

31 01 2013

Obama Fail

Today marks the official demise of President Obama’s Jobs Council. U.S. News reports that:

“When Obama in January 2011 formed his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, unemployment was hovering above 9 percent. Two years president later, more than 12 million people in the U.S. are out of work. The unemployment rate has improved to 7.8 percent, but both parties agree that’s still too high.”

Obama’s Jobs Council Shutting Down on Thursday

Investors Business Daily doesn’t bother to sugar coat, laying out the real skinny on unemployment in America and the failure of this President to either stem the tide of job loss  or get out of the way of job creation:

“Officially, some 23 million people don’t have regular work. While official unemployment has dipped below 8%, the real unemployment rate — the one that counts discouraged workers and those who’d like full-time jobs but can’t find one — is 14.4%.

Yes, we know, this is a tired litany. And yet, have we become as a people so inured to Obama’s failure that we no longer take note of it?

Worse, do we just do nothing, letting Obama’s ruinous Keynesian experiments take their course?”

Obama’s Cynical “Laserlike Focus” on Jobs Turns to Lack of Interest

So what happened to that “Laser Focus”? I surmise that it wasn’t there in the first place, even though he loved putting it in speeches. This fine citizen presents news footage of President Pompous declaring no less than six times how he was now going to pivot and focus on jobs in his administration.

Really, it’s all about political expediency versus political demagoguery, and Obama will always choose demagoguery over the former. I don’t call this the Smokes and Mirrors Presidency for nothing. Whatever gives the illusion that “important work” is being done, while the work of killing the economy, cutting job creators off at the knees, and creating a permanent underclass is cemented behind the scenes.

Supposed Immigration Reform and Gun Control are hot button issues that allow him to speechify, posture, and play well with the sycophant news media. While actual work to eliminate policies that hamper individual freedoms and kill business are never undertaken. With more looming draconian tax codes courtesy of the monster Obamacare, we are guaranteed to see little increase in job creation, more layoffs, and more part-time jobs “McJobs” that offer little in terms of growth or benefits.

Welcome to your second term–don’t say you were not warned.

Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate and Lying Hillary Clinton

Words that will live in infamy.

Well, that was a waste. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave over eight hours of testimony, and all we discovered is that she is a consummate liar who gets lauded and praised for being such. To watch the fawn-fest that masqueraded as a Congressional testimony was at times too much for me to stomach. Thanks to the video embed on CSPAN, I could fast forward through some of it.

What is there to fawn over about this woman? She has effectively used the men in her circle as rungs up the political ladder. Married Bill and managed his Bimbo eruptions so she could finally get to the White House, used his influence to help her get elected Senator of New York, and in her run for the Presidency in 2008, she was effectively told by her party that she needed to step aside to let the Black man win. We all know Hillary Clinton was placed in the position of Secretary of State as payment for her loyalty to the leftist agenda. And what has she done in that position? If burning embassies, a more nuclear Iran, and an even crazier leader in North Korea are any indicator: Not much.

Benghazi will be her legacy as Secretary of State, and the Obama administration’s albatross. Four dead Americans deserve justice, and their families and the American people deserve answers. We got no closer to either after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony.

The Democrats did their best playing sycophantic lapdogs. One or two even expressed their excitement to see Hillary run in 2016. Seriously?

The Republicans weren’t much better. Senator Rand Paul, Senator John McCain, Senator Marco Rubio and a few others played the scold and the speechifier, but I didn’t see their questioning or their speeches any more effective than the panting of Secretary Clinton’s Dem fanboys and girls.

Senator Ron Johnson came off very effective, poking holes in the Obama administration’s and Secretary Clinton’s string of falsehoods after the Benghazi attack. The exchange is here:

“What difference at this point does it make?” is the most egregious thing she said in the entire testimony–and she said plenty that was egregious. It makes a difference, Madame Secretary, because you didn’t bother to read Ambassador Stevens’ cables requesting more security. It makes a difference, because you and Barack Obama went on record blaming a video for the attack, then had U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice posit the same story five times on national television. It makes a difference, because the creator of that video is still languishing in jail for doing nothing but exercising his First Amendment rights as an American, while the one credible suspect, Ali Harzi, was released for insufficient evidence–despite it being almost 200 days since the attack.

Senator Ron Johnson in this morning’s op-ed in USA Today personally answered Secretary Clinton’s egregious statement:

“To answer Secretary Clinton, it does make a difference. It matters enormously for the American public to know whether or not their president and members of his administration are on top of a crisis and telling them the truth.”

After this dog-and-pony show, we know for sure they can do neither. Personally, I’m rooting for an insider who will come forward and bring more evidence to support the truth, and expose the cover up. We are certainly not going to get anything from the Obama administration or the supposed FBI investigation.

In My Orbit: 2012 Year-in-review

Well, the Mayans (or their historical interpeters) were completely wrong. The world did not end on December 21, 2012. After the results of the 2012 Election, it might have been a welcome reprieve from what we will face for the next four years. This administration cannot even negotiate a fiscal cliff compromise. Tell me again why Obama was reelected? I think everyone will be asking that question in time to come, with varying degrees of response.

We may slide down the fiscal cliff, but As the Girl Turns blog will continue to go strong. WordPress was so nice to supply me with the year-in-review stats, so here is the rundown of my 5 most viewed posts of 2012:

1. Epic Fail

From “You Didn’t Build That!” to haterade toward Bristol Palin, both were fails of President Obama and the Left. While it did not cost him the Presidential reelection, it did cost him in terms of image. This is a President that despises independent growth and small business, and his lack of leadership on the fiscal cliff talks continue to show how little he cares about building the American economy. Let this be a reminder of just WHO we re-elected.

2. Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate Cover up

and

3. Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate Unraveling

Benghazi continues to unravel. Since September 12, 2012, many of us knew this stunk to high heaven with everyone doing a song and dance over a YouTube video that barely had any views until the State Department and the Obama administration decided to use it as an excuse for the September 11, 2012 Consulate attack.

Despite the legacy media and Democrat efforts to ignore it completely, the stench of the tragedy that is Benghazi, and all its subsequent negligence and failures, continues to fill the room. Until justice is done and the truth is revealed, I hope this continues. Eli Lake of Newsweek/The Daily Beast, one of the few legacy media reporters who has bothered to cover the story, is still on the case, along with Representative Jason Chaffetz, the Republican chairman of a House oversight subcommittee that is investigating the security failures on the night of the attack.

Departing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has suddenly fallen ill, first with a flu bug, then with a concussion, and now with blood clots. My prayers are with her for a quick recovery, because she needs to testify. Someone needs to answer and be accountable for negligent breaches and lives lost.

4. Illustrating Absurdity: Or, lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part…

Amazingly enough, this was written back in 2010, and I didn’t re-blog it–so it’s nice to know my words continue to have an impact, even on events that have long past. Like my No. 1 “most viewed” post, it is more confirmation that we have a President who cannot handle crisis and continues to do more harm than good for the country.

5. Election 2012 Post-mortem: Still looking for the Silver Linings

We are one day away from going over the fiscal cliff, the Obama administration is using the Sandy Hook tragedy to make inroads into trampling upon 2nd Amendment rights, and Obamacare threatens to bankrupt all of us if we don’t find a way to stop it. It is essential that we find the silver linings in the looming clouds of four more years of this Presidency. We must unite and we must fight. Our country needs us more than ever.

I leave you with a curious Blog factoid: A bulk of my readership comes from the United States and Canada, with the rest coming from Mexico and South America. Hmmm….

Here’s my wish for a safe and Happy New Year!

Election 2012 Post-mortem: Still looking for the Silver Linings

7 11 2012

This is the last post I expected to write on November 7, 2012. But life, often gives unexpected results.

As opposed to 2008, when I went to bed early already knowing the outcome of that election (and wrote about those “silver linings” the next day), this time around, I was much more optimistic that Americans wanted to oust this fraudulent leader. A friend even invited me to an election night party with other like-minded Conservatives, and I was excited to go and have a room full of people to potentially share in victory. So I prepared to stay up late, but be happy in doing so.

The stay up late part came to pass, the happiness and victory, not so much. President Obama was re-elected for a second term, and this grieves me beyond measure. After watching the demise of the America I thought I knew last night, I did what I do in good times and bad: look for God’s perspective on this. For my life, this is best found in God’s word.

So my comments will be interspersed with scriptures that come to mind or that fit the focus of my thoughts. Take it for what it’s worth. I will start off my rant with railing at the storm clouds first, because that’s always the first thing you. But take heart, after gazing at the dark clouds, if you look deeply enough, you can still find silver linings.

In honor of PBS funding and Big Bird being saved by an Obama re-election, this rant is brought to you by the Letter “D”.

It is Disastrous and Disgraceful that a Leftist media protected and propped up this President in order to ensure he be re-elected. Former-Hurricane-now-reduced-to-SuperStorm-Sandy is the most recent example, but they are legion. The most egregious is Benghazi, which I have written about, and will continue to write about until justice is done for Ambassador Stevens and the other Americans who lost their lives because of the incompetence of this President.

Concerning this corrupt and gangrenous entity called the mainstream media, Isaiah 5:20-21 came to mind, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.”

Describes the MSM to a “T”. But what they do not know is that any shred of credibility they may have had left is now completely gone. I portend that their Demise will continue to be swift and Decisive–more than we know. I plan to dance on the graves when this happens. The collective lot of them are a Disgrace to Democracy.

It is Disheartening that American people refused to watch both the Republican and Democrat conventions, the debates, or read anything the candidates were saying and critically compare their messages. More important, the refusal to look at the false and inaccurate claims on both sides and weigh the information accordingly. Some of these people are culled from my Facebook and Twitter interactions, but if this is even a microcosmic representation of a cross-section of our population, then we are in a world of hurt as a country. Laziness and Ignorance really do great harm.

It is Disturbing that a sector of Blacks are perfectly fine with having a Black President for the sake of having a Black President. No care about his lack of character, his ability to lie, blame, and obfuscate, along with his inability to keep his promises. Again I go back to the aftermath of Former-Hurricane-now-reduced-to-SuperStorm-Sandy as a shining example of who this President is and how he operates. President Obama showed up, made promises, took lots of photos, pretended to “feel their pain” , and then left to continue campaigning. Yet the people of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut continue to hurt, continue to be without food and power, and most frightening, as the weather turns colder, remain homeless. FEMA is failing in its execution of emergency aid to a degree that exceeds Katrina. But this crop of voters is still blaming Bush for the bad economy? Well, you can’t blame Bush for Sandy, or for the next four years. It’s all on our “first Black President” Obama.

Even with all this evidence, some Blacks still laud Obama as a hero and hold him up as a shining example for the Black race. How Delusional is that?

It is beyond me that some Blacks are content with 14.3% black unemployment, preferences of another race group’s voting power over their increasingly dwindling one, and black genocide in the form of highly-funded and unfettered abortions among minorities. I doubt that I will feel any sympathy toward them when they come to see that they have been bamboozled. What I do have is Hosea 8:7: “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up.” Matter of fact, they should read the whole chapter, as it is a frightening reality on what America has become and what may be in store.

So glad I got that off my chest. Now on to that flash of light in the darkness.

God is in Control. Daniel 2:21 “He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” I navigate in lots of worlds, and in my Christian world, lots of people were fasting and praying for the outcome of this election; I believe God’s will was done. What that means for me as a Christian is that I continue to pray for President Obama and our nation, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-2 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

What it also means is that I do what I can to fight and stand for what is right. And much about this administration is not right. I am also praying Luke 8:17: “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” I will work for this revealing to unfold, and for believers to know their role and place when it does happen.

I gave 2 Corinithians 4:8 to another Christian Conservative who was very disheartened at last night’s results: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not defeated, crushed, but not in despair.” For those who believe like me, if we pray and we seek, we are going to see God’s intended plan for this time, and hopefully make a difference for righteousness–no matter what the circumstances.

Black Conservatives have become more visible and vocal. I’m not just talking about Herman Cain, Congressman Allen West (who continues to fight for his seat), and the “acceptable” ones they trot out on Fox and CNN. I’m talking about all the grassroots brothers and sisters I have found (and who have found me) on Twitter, Facebook, and some organizations of which I have recently become a part. These fired up folks represent and fight with reasoned thought, penetrating words, facts, and their presence. We will no longer be ignored.

I know I have increased in my conservative thought and activism over the years. It started in 2000, crystallized in 2004, and became more strong in 2008. Now on the other side of 2012, I am no less fired up, and no less motivated to see Leftist memes about Black monolithic thinking destroyed. Not every Black supports everything this President does just because he is Black. His policies and practices are the problem, not his race. I and other Black Conservatives will continue to trumpet this, and hopefully join together to make our stance known. A fellow Black Conservative, Demetrius Minor said it best on Twitter: “The racial division will only continue to widen under Obama. Conservatives: We need one another. Let’s unify.” Amen to that. Let’s demonstrate Ecclesiastes 4:12, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Finally, Grassroots activism is still alive and well. Now that this national election is over, I can turn my attention to local affairs of city and state, which is where leaders are built and real change can occur that affects the national level. While I still plan to point out the falsehood and hypocrisies of this Obama administration, I’m shifting some of my to focus the Los Angeles mayor’s race. Antonio Villaraigosa has overseen the decline of Los Angeles business and it’s economy, while feathering his nest for whatever place he will be rewarded with in the Obama administration. Many of the candidates running to replace him willingly aided and abetted Mayor Eleven Percent, and I plan to point this out, while promoting candidates who truly want to reverse the damage Villaraigosa has incurred on this city through his negligence, neglect, and power mongering. Proverbs 29:2: “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.”

Please don’t misunderstand me that I want a theocracy or only “religious” people in elected office. I take the textbook definition of “righteous” which says, “morally upright people.” I know moral atheists and immoral believers, and I’ll take the moral atheist any time. If you hold to a worldview that embraces, uplifts and seeks to further the good of a people and a community, then you are righteous in my book. On the converse, are leaders like Obama and Villaraigosa who use people and communities as a tool for the furtherance of their own agenda–and damn the consequences.

We need “righteous” leaders locally and regionally, so we can have better choices nationally.

I’ve said my peace.
