Illustrating Absurdity: Rachel Dolezal wins the “WTF” award

This is a comedy sketch that’s writing itself. Rachel Dolezal, head of the Spokane chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. has been “passing” as black. She was born Caucasian and raised by two white parents who apparently grew tired of her deception—so they’ve outed her.

I’ll give you a moment to let that sink in.

Armed with pictures and a birth certificate, Lawrence and Ruthanne Dolezal are taking to newspapers, cable and network news shows to let the world know this Black activist who has filed police reports about nine different hate crimes perpetrated against her, who is touted as an academic expert on African-American culture, and teaches African-American studies classes at Eastern Washington University is their estranged daughter who is… white.

After the obvious jokes and the laughter subsides, you then start to think about how many people this fraudulence hurts, not in the least her Caucasian parents.

I explore the role of the feckless N.A.A.C.P. in this mess, and social media reaction over at Communities Digital News: The self-loathing Rachel Dolezal marks the irrelevant N.A.A.C.P.’s demise.

In the meantime, listen to her seemingly shell shocked parents talk about the daughter who has rejected them and her race, because #whitelivesdontmatter.

Who Cares Meme

So what is capturing the public’s attention this week? Solange Knowles trying to kick the stuffing out of Jay-Z in an elevator, and Michael Sam’s Gay Kiss. I care about both these subjects as much as I care about dyeing my hair blonde (Nil, Nada, Zip). But the media and the publicity whores are going to try to make me care… or else

What I do care about are people constantly trying to shove something down my throat, and media bias; but I’m repeating myself. Thank you, Matt Walsh, for caring enough to articulate this. Read on…

This is my homophobic rant against Michael Sam | The Matt Walsh Blog.

A Tempest in a “T”-Cup…

12 04 2013

filizanka-do-kawy-porcelana

So here’s my daily fun: My Twitter compatriot, @BlackRepublican, re-tweeted the nonsense of Marc Lamont Hill. I’m glad BR does, because I have no desire to follow him on a regular basis.

Marc Lamont Hill is a host/contributor at the Huffington Post and HuffPo Live. He is also an associate professor at Columbia University, and a former Fox News commentator. His last bit of opinion/commentary that captured the interwebs was a piece on “The 15 Most Overrated White People”. Had a white columnist written such a piece about “The 15 Most Overrated Black People” (and there are way more than 15), the Left would have been up in arms. Maybe I will set my hand to that particular list–but I digress… Marc Lamont Hill is one of the Left’s creations, the same as Touré;  so he is allowed to spout fallacies and pablum about race and conservatives under the guise of original thought.

Taking nothing away from the good work of Twitchy, the re-tweet in question was one where Marc Lamont Hill decided to diss Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice because she accepted the invitation to be one of the FIRST women to join the Augusta National Golf Club. The club has been exclusively male throughout its history, and Secy Rice, along with Darla Moore, eliminated that barrier.

MLH Tweet-Rice Advocate for ALL WOMEN

Stunning logic here.  But I felt this arrogant tweet warranted a response:

ATGT response to MLH re Token Comment

It still rankles me that our own people will not give Secy Condoleezza Rice her due. No matter what her political affiliation or anyone’s issue with President George W. Bush, it does not eliminate the fact that Secy Rice is an accomplished Black woman and a historical figure. She was FIRST in many respects, blazing trails for Black women in academia, government, and world affairs. Yet, the Left finds any excuse to denigrate and  demean her legacy and her choices.

And tell me, how many women golfers are fighting to wear a green blazer in Atlanta? Is it even a valid argument? I have my doubts about that.

I decided to expand my comments on Marc Lamont Hill’s “Token” reference:

ATGT re MLH Tweet-Was Robinson a Token

From there Marc Lamont Hill’s logic became even more… circular:

MLH Tweet-Rice First is unnecessary

So there are no longer necessary FIRSTS in Marc Lamont Hill’s world.  Interesting…

MLH Tweet-Rice and Real Change

But I couldn’t let that one let slip by either:

ATGT-Why do your care MLH if her first is unnecessary

Marc Lamont Hill continued to double down on his line of reasoning–or lack of it:

MLH Tweet-Only Minority in the Room

Perhaps he speaks from experience? Are there many under 40 associate professors of color at Columbia University? I speculate that if Marc Lamont Hill were not a Left-wing youngster of a particular race, he would not have the perch he now enjoys. A perch, frankly, that was blazed for him by Secy Rice and other blacks who had to suffer more discrimination and denigration than someone of his generation, or mine for that matter, ever have.

After hitting bottom with that last comment, he continued to dig:

MLH Tweet-Rice is Selfish

By calling Dr. Rice “selfish”, Marc Lamont Hill just destroyed the first part of his statement.

Marc Lamont Hill finished his attack on Secy Rice with this complete falsehood:

MLH Tweet-Nothing to do with Black Repub

Black Republican’s final response was worth the price of admission:

Black Republican Tweet on MLH

Eye roll indeed, along with shaking my head.

In My Orbit: 2012 Year-in-review

Well, the Mayans (or their historical interpeters) were completely wrong. The world did not end on December 21, 2012. After the results of the 2012 Election, it might have been a welcome reprieve from what we will face for the next four years. This administration cannot even negotiate a fiscal cliff compromise. Tell me again why Obama was reelected? I think everyone will be asking that question in time to come, with varying degrees of response.

We may slide down the fiscal cliff, but As the Girl Turns blog will continue to go strong. WordPress was so nice to supply me with the year-in-review stats, so here is the rundown of my 5 most viewed posts of 2012:

1. Epic Fail

From “You Didn’t Build That!” to haterade toward Bristol Palin, both were fails of President Obama and the Left. While it did not cost him the Presidential reelection, it did cost him in terms of image. This is a President that despises independent growth and small business, and his lack of leadership on the fiscal cliff talks continue to show how little he cares about building the American economy. Let this be a reminder of just WHO we re-elected.

2. Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate Cover up

and

3. Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate Unraveling

Benghazi continues to unravel. Since September 12, 2012, many of us knew this stunk to high heaven with everyone doing a song and dance over a YouTube video that barely had any views until the State Department and the Obama administration decided to use it as an excuse for the September 11, 2012 Consulate attack.

Despite the legacy media and Democrat efforts to ignore it completely, the stench of the tragedy that is Benghazi, and all its subsequent negligence and failures, continues to fill the room. Until justice is done and the truth is revealed, I hope this continues. Eli Lake of Newsweek/The Daily Beast, one of the few legacy media reporters who has bothered to cover the story, is still on the case, along with Representative Jason Chaffetz, the Republican chairman of a House oversight subcommittee that is investigating the security failures on the night of the attack.

Departing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has suddenly fallen ill, first with a flu bug, then with a concussion, and now with blood clots. My prayers are with her for a quick recovery, because she needs to testify. Someone needs to answer and be accountable for negligent breaches and lives lost.

4. Illustrating Absurdity: Or, lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part…

Amazingly enough, this was written back in 2010, and I didn’t re-blog it–so it’s nice to know my words continue to have an impact, even on events that have long past. Like my No. 1 “most viewed” post, it is more confirmation that we have a President who cannot handle crisis and continues to do more harm than good for the country.

5. Election 2012 Post-mortem: Still looking for the Silver Linings

We are one day away from going over the fiscal cliff, the Obama administration is using the Sandy Hook tragedy to make inroads into trampling upon 2nd Amendment rights, and Obamacare threatens to bankrupt all of us if we don’t find a way to stop it. It is essential that we find the silver linings in the looming clouds of four more years of this Presidency. We must unite and we must fight. Our country needs us more than ever.

I leave you with a curious Blog factoid: A bulk of my readership comes from the United States and Canada, with the rest coming from Mexico and South America. Hmmm….

Here’s my wish for a safe and Happy New Year!

Illustrating Absurdity: #OWS Redux

You keep giving me absurd news copy, I’ll keep writing posts!

Under the This is Rich category, The OWS kitchen staff is getting fed up with homeless and ex-con freeloaders who are eating their food… Say what?!

“The Occupy Wall Street volunteer kitchen staff launched a ‘counter’ revolution yesterday — because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters.

For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.

They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day.” (emphasis mine).

How thoughtful! Today’s definition of Irony: “Protesting that the wealth needs to be shared while withholding your own.”  Occupy Wall Street Kitchen Slow-down Targets Squatters.

Occupy Portland is upset because it’s lost $20,000 in donations via PayPal:

“Organizers of Occupy Portland say they fear as much as $20,000 donated to the group through a PayPal account has disappeared.

They also say the group’s finance committee has hijacked the demonstration’s Internet domain name and filed for incorporation against the wishes of the group’s decision-making body.

The demonstrator who filed the papers with the state said Wednesday she did so to protect the protest, and she has received death threats as a result.”

Death threats? That’s beyond the pale, but then, so is this supposed movement. Occupy Portland fears it has lost $20,000 in donations.

Finally, in the Too Stupid to Run a Mile category, the idiot Mayor of Los Angeles has come to the conclusion that Occupy Los Angeles “cannot continue indefinitely.” Occupy LA: Occupy LA “Cannot Continue Indefinitely,” Villaraigosa says.

Yah think? With the violence and law enforcement push back in Oakland, Atlanta, and other cities, Villaraigosa sees the handwriting on the wall: All this bad press will ruin the PR for my December trade mission to Asia!

Just like him–when the going gets tough, the tough get out of town.

Illustrating Absurdity

Chicken crossing by Peter Griffin/publicdomainpictures.net

It’s raining in Los Angeles today. The saving grace  is that we probably won’t have any Anti-Wall Street protesters in front of City Hall whining about the “Capitolist” and imperialism. People cancel appointments rather than drive in the rain around here, so do you think they’re going to make their way to a protest? Oh, I think not.

Manhattan has not fared so well, and I’m sure Wall Street and every other working person they have disrupted for the past two weeks are hoping for snow storms to drive out that lot.

You know your movement is whack when George Soros says he “sympathizes with protesters speaking out against corporate greed in ongoing protests on Wall Street[..]” The man who single-handedly funds many Democrat politician’s campaigns and PAC groups? Are you sh@tting me?

Even more absurd is Michael Moore waxing philosophical about this “movement” ad nauseum. This Fat (literally)-cat filmmaker who lives high on the hog off his returns from propaganda films, while railing against the capitalist system that allows him to rake in those very earnings, has always rung false. He’s a tool, but unfortunately, a loud one.

Alec Baldwin and Susan Sarandon are no better. Say Alec, what’s your annual salary from 30 Rock and all those endorsements, like Capital One?

Now that I’ve expressed my disdain, I’m going to finish an article for my Examiner job so that I can get more virtual pennies. Then it’s off to my other job as a Yoga instructor, where I hope my gas tank lasts to the next pay day.

I might be inclined to protest, but I’m too damn busy trying to earn a living.
