Election 2012 Post-mortem: Still looking for the Silver Linings

7 11 2012

This is the last post I expected to write on November 7, 2012. But life, often gives unexpected results.

As opposed to 2008, when I went to bed early already knowing the outcome of that election (and wrote about those “silver linings” the next day), this time around, I was much more optimistic that Americans wanted to oust this fraudulent leader. A friend even invited me to an election night party with other like-minded Conservatives, and I was excited to go and have a room full of people to potentially share in victory. So I prepared to stay up late, but be happy in doing so.

The stay up late part came to pass, the happiness and victory, not so much. President Obama was re-elected for a second term, and this grieves me beyond measure. After watching the demise of the America I thought I knew last night, I did what I do in good times and bad: look for God’s perspective on this. For my life, this is best found in God’s word.

So my comments will be interspersed with scriptures that come to mind or that fit the focus of my thoughts. Take it for what it’s worth. I will start off my rant with railing at the storm clouds first, because that’s always the first thing you. But take heart, after gazing at the dark clouds, if you look deeply enough, you can still find silver linings.

In honor of PBS funding and Big Bird being saved by an Obama re-election, this rant is brought to you by the Letter “D”.

It is Disastrous and Disgraceful that a Leftist media protected and propped up this President in order to ensure he be re-elected. Former-Hurricane-now-reduced-to-SuperStorm-Sandy is the most recent example, but they are legion. The most egregious is Benghazi, which I have written about, and will continue to write about until justice is done for Ambassador Stevens and the other Americans who lost their lives because of the incompetence of this President.

Concerning this corrupt and gangrenous entity called the mainstream media, Isaiah 5:20-21 came to mind, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.”

Describes the MSM to a “T”. But what they do not know is that any shred of credibility they may have had left is now completely gone. I portend that their Demise will continue to be swift and Decisive–more than we know. I plan to dance on the graves when this happens. The collective lot of them are a Disgrace to Democracy.

It is Disheartening that American people refused to watch both the Republican and Democrat conventions, the debates, or read anything the candidates were saying and critically compare their messages. More important, the refusal to look at the false and inaccurate claims on both sides and weigh the information accordingly. Some of these people are culled from my Facebook and Twitter interactions, but if this is even a microcosmic representation of a cross-section of our population, then we are in a world of hurt as a country. Laziness and Ignorance really do great harm.

It is Disturbing that a sector of Blacks are perfectly fine with having a Black President for the sake of having a Black President. No care about his lack of character, his ability to lie, blame, and obfuscate, along with his inability to keep his promises. Again I go back to the aftermath of Former-Hurricane-now-reduced-to-SuperStorm-Sandy as a shining example of who this President is and how he operates. President Obama showed up, made promises, took lots of photos, pretended to “feel their pain” , and then left to continue campaigning. Yet the people of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut continue to hurt, continue to be without food and power, and most frightening, as the weather turns colder, remain homeless. FEMA is failing in its execution of emergency aid to a degree that exceeds Katrina. But this crop of voters is still blaming Bush for the bad economy? Well, you can’t blame Bush for Sandy, or for the next four years. It’s all on our “first Black President” Obama.

Even with all this evidence, some Blacks still laud Obama as a hero and hold him up as a shining example for the Black race. How Delusional is that?

It is beyond me that some Blacks are content with 14.3% black unemployment, preferences of another race group’s voting power over their increasingly dwindling one, and black genocide in the form of highly-funded and unfettered abortions among minorities. I doubt that I will feel any sympathy toward them when they come to see that they have been bamboozled. What I do have is Hosea 8:7: “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up.” Matter of fact, they should read the whole chapter, as it is a frightening reality on what America has become and what may be in store.

So glad I got that off my chest. Now on to that flash of light in the darkness.

God is in Control. Daniel 2:21 “He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” I navigate in lots of worlds, and in my Christian world, lots of people were fasting and praying for the outcome of this election; I believe God’s will was done. What that means for me as a Christian is that I continue to pray for President Obama and our nation, according to 1 Timothy 2:1-2 “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

What it also means is that I do what I can to fight and stand for what is right. And much about this administration is not right. I am also praying Luke 8:17: “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” I will work for this revealing to unfold, and for believers to know their role and place when it does happen.

I gave 2 Corinithians 4:8 to another Christian Conservative who was very disheartened at last night’s results: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not defeated, crushed, but not in despair.” For those who believe like me, if we pray and we seek, we are going to see God’s intended plan for this time, and hopefully make a difference for righteousness–no matter what the circumstances.

Black Conservatives have become more visible and vocal. I’m not just talking about Herman Cain, Congressman Allen West (who continues to fight for his seat), and the “acceptable” ones they trot out on Fox and CNN. I’m talking about all the grassroots brothers and sisters I have found (and who have found me) on Twitter, Facebook, and some organizations of which I have recently become a part. These fired up folks represent and fight with reasoned thought, penetrating words, facts, and their presence. We will no longer be ignored.

I know I have increased in my conservative thought and activism over the years. It started in 2000, crystallized in 2004, and became more strong in 2008. Now on the other side of 2012, I am no less fired up, and no less motivated to see Leftist memes about Black monolithic thinking destroyed. Not every Black supports everything this President does just because he is Black. His policies and practices are the problem, not his race. I and other Black Conservatives will continue to trumpet this, and hopefully join together to make our stance known. A fellow Black Conservative, Demetrius Minor said it best on Twitter: “The racial division will only continue to widen under Obama. Conservatives: We need one another. Let’s unify.” Amen to that. Let’s demonstrate Ecclesiastes 4:12, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Finally, Grassroots activism is still alive and well. Now that this national election is over, I can turn my attention to local affairs of city and state, which is where leaders are built and real change can occur that affects the national level. While I still plan to point out the falsehood and hypocrisies of this Obama administration, I’m shifting some of my to focus the Los Angeles mayor’s race. Antonio Villaraigosa has overseen the decline of Los Angeles business and it’s economy, while feathering his nest for whatever place he will be rewarded with in the Obama administration. Many of the candidates running to replace him willingly aided and abetted Mayor Eleven Percent, and I plan to point this out, while promoting candidates who truly want to reverse the damage Villaraigosa has incurred on this city through his negligence, neglect, and power mongering. Proverbs 29:2: “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.”

Please don’t misunderstand me that I want a theocracy or only “religious” people in elected office. I take the textbook definition of “righteous” which says, “morally upright people.” I know moral atheists and immoral believers, and I’ll take the moral atheist any time. If you hold to a worldview that embraces, uplifts and seeks to further the good of a people and a community, then you are righteous in my book. On the converse, are leaders like Obama and Villaraigosa who use people and communities as a tool for the furtherance of their own agenda–and damn the consequences.

We need “righteous” leaders locally and regionally, so we can have better choices nationally.

I’ve said my peace.

Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate Unraveling

27 10 2012

“Because some men aren’t looking for anything logical, like money. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.” Alfred Pennyworth, “The Dark Knight” 2008

How can you look into a grieving parent’s eyes and lie?

That is my first question. I said in my last Benghazi-Gate post that “When families begin to call for your head, there is bound to be a reckoning.”

Evidence of this just keeps on coming.

Charlie Woods is the father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who gave his life trying to defend the consulate and safe house in the Benghazi attacks–even after calling TWICE for help. Both calls were denied, and SEAL Woods was given orders to stand down. He disobeyed those orders, and with fellow SEAL Glen Doherty, defended both the consulate and the safe house for 7 hours while the State Department and White House officials watched.

Yet, for 14 days after the Benghazi attack, the White House and State Department did a song and dance about an anti-Islamist video being the cause of the 9/11/12 uprising, when they knew this was not the case. Due in no small part to strong reporting from Breitbart.com, Eli Lake of Newsweek, Fox News, and others in the conservative blogosphere, this blatant cover up might have been allowed to stand.  Once the Congressional Oversight Committee did its investigations, the facts were codified on record, and allowed a deeper unfolding.

Charlie Woods said it best:  “I do not appreciate cowards, and I do not appreciate lies.” Neither do the American people, and the Obama administration and State Department have exhibited both over this last month and a half since the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack.

The video of the interview with Charlie Woods from Fox’s America Live with Megyn Kelly is heartbreaking. Mr. Woods tells his story of the lies and obfuscations from the Obama administration that dishonor the memory of his son, a true American hero.

As more facts are revealed, the falsehoods told by the White House and the State Department continue to unravel, exposing the shocking degree of the cover up.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta asserted on Thursday that there was no way they could have sent in outside assistance, because they did not have enough intel at the time to take action, and he did not want to put American forces at risk.

Retired General Bob Scales, appearing Friday On the Record with Greta Van Susteren debunked Panetta’s claims, and confirms the information given by Investigative reporter Jennifer Griffin:

“[T]wo military surveillance drones redirected to Benghazi shortly after the attack on the Consulate began. They were already in the vicinity. The second surveillance craft was sent to relieve the first drone, perhaps due to fuel issues. Both were capable of sending real time visuals back to U.S. officials in Washington, D.C. Any U.S. official or agency with the proper clearance, including the White House Situation Room, State Department, CIA, Pentagon and others, could call up that video in real time on their computers. “

The drones had night vision capabilities, the ability to see through the fog and the fire of battle, and to even pinpoint and target certain weapons (like the mortar shells).

The CIA continues to distance itself of any culpability, placing the failure to act directly into the lap of the Obama Administration. The CIA confirmed that they requested help and were denied. As confirmed by Jennifer Griffin’s on-ground sources, during the attack Special Operator Woods and Navy SEAL Doherty reported back to base, giving relevant intel that would allow anyone assisting to know exactly where and when to strike:

“According to sources on the ground during the attack, the special operator on the roof of the CIA annex had visual contact and a laser pointing at the Libyan mortar team that was targeting the CIA annex. The operators were calling in coordinates of where the Libyan forces were firing from. ”
CIA Operations were denied request for help during Benghazi attack sources say.

This raises other questions: Who gave the order to stand down? Why was help refused, when the technology to assess the situation, and the ability to help was already in place?

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has announced it will hold a closed hearing on November 15 (after the election) into the circumstances surrounding the terrorist attack, including the intelligence and security situation there. There is word that additional hearings are also set to follow.

Of course, President Obama continues to dodge direct questions about this continuing debacle. After doing a fluffball interview with MTV, he sat down with Denver’s local News 9 reporter Kyle Clark who asked direct questions about the Benghazi tragedy:

“President Obama discussed the situation in Libya during a satellite interview Friday afternoon with 9NEWS reporter Kyle Clark, who also asked if it’s fair for Americans to be told to wait until after the election to learn what truly happened in Libya.

“‘The election has nothing to do with four brave Americans getting killed and us wanting to find out exactly what happened,’ President Obama said. ‘Nobody wants to find out more what happened than I do.'” (emphases mine)

“President Obama was directly asked twice whether pleas for help on the ground in Libya were denied during the attack. Both times, he repeated his standard call for a thorough investigation.”

The full transcript of the interview and the video can be seen here. The President looks haggard, tired, and like he doesn’t even believe the regurgitated talking points that are coming from his mouth. He fails to make a convincing argument.

If President Obama wins re-election (which looks less and less likely) then his administration will be under investigation, not just for Benghazi, but for his other domestic policy failures (Fast & Furious, Solyndra/Sun Power). If he is found to be culpable in the cover up of Benghazi-Gate, he could possibly be impeached.

If there is any justice, he will wear his Foreign Policy decisions like an albatross around his neck.

If President Obama is not re-elected, then Benghazi-Gate will be the legacy. A Middle East foreign policy that was supposed to bring peace and new relations with Islamic countries, that only added more fuel to the fire of Islamist hatred, opened America up to further attack (the Underwear Bomber, Times Square Bomber, Fort Hood), and precipitated the death of Ambassador Christopher J. Stevens and three American heroes.

For many, November 7 cannot come soon enough.

UPDATE: More unraveling from Nice Deb and The Blaze. Sources place President Obama in the Situation Room while the Benghazi attacks were happening. According to Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer on Fox’s Judge Jeanine Pirro, “He and only he could issue a directive for Sec of Defense, Panetta to do something.”

Nice Deb nails it: “Once again, Obama voted ‘present’.”

Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate Cover Up

13 10 2012

“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive!”

— Sir Walter Scott, Marmion

I was six when the Watergate scandal was raging, so its impact was mostly lost on me. It was only later in life that I understood the gravity of a President willfully deceiving the American people and believing he had done nothing wrong in doing this.

However, no one died in Watergate. Lost reputations for sure, along with the lost confidence of the American people in their elected officials; but no one lost their life.

We cannot say the same with Benghazi-Gate. Four dead Americans: Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods are the result of the Obama administration’s malfeasance toward security and intelligence, and their willful deception about the true causes surrounding this terrorist attack.

The legacy media has finally stopped covering for President Obama and has begun to cover the scandal–three weeks after the attack on September 11, 2012. Our legislative body in the form of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform called for hearings, and on Wednesday, October 10, the Committee took over four hours to grill various State Department personnel on the security failures in Benghazi. The testimony given was both revelatory and  deplorable. Requests for heightened security were made by top security officer Eric L. Nordstrom, but were denied by the State Department. Nordstrom reflected the fatalism of these refusals when he testified, “The takeaway from that, for me and my staff: It was abundantly clear we were not going to get resources until the aftermath of an incident. And the question that we would ask is, again, ‘How thin does the ice have to get before someone falls through?’ “

Tragically, we now know the answer to that question. I recommend you view the hearings for yourself here. They are a strong indictment on the divide between the bureaucratic bubble of Washington, D.C., and the actual people who are putting their lives on the line every day.

Sobering.

If you are not up to speed on the full scope of this debacle, this video from Western Journalism gives an excellent overview on the terrorist attack, the cover up, and what is at stake if this is not fully investigated before the election.

President Obama, who missed 62 percent of his intelligence briefings in 2011 and 2012, initially refused to acknowledge the Libya tragedy was a terrorist attack, preferring to blame it on an anti-Muslim video, and declaring the administration would gain “justice” for the fallen.

Four weeks later, there is little justice and even fewer answers. Marc A. Thiessen rightly compares the Bush administration’s response after 9/11/2001, and the stunning lack of response of the Obama administration toward this crisis.

“Three weeks to reach the “crime scene”? Within days, CNN reporters were able to rummage through the rubble and recover the ambassador’s diary, and Post reporters were able to access and photograph the destroyed diplomatic compound. But the administration can’t get the FBI to the scene for three weeks? It should come as no surprise that the Obama administration is treating the attack as a crime — but it can’t even get the criminal investigation right.”

The real Libya scandal: The failure to respond.”

So far, the heavy lifting has been done by investigative reporting: Eli Lake of The Daily Beast, Fox News, Breibart.com, the Daily Caller, and a host of other conservative websites have uncovered what looks increasingly like a concerted effort on the part of the Obama Administration to obfuscate the truth.

Aside from new media and the Congressional Oversight committee, the rest of Washington is giving the appearance of business as usual. And unless directly confronted on the matter, the Obama administration remains in campaign mode. President Obama would rather champion for Big Bird than talk about the breakdown that occurred on his watch. Of course, when anyone from the administration (or campaign) is asked to give an account, they continue to shift the story, and lay blame elsewhere.

In the Vice Presidential debate Thursday night, VP Joe Biden denied that the administration knew anything about requests for heightened security. Hours before VP Biden uttered that stunning lie, campaign stooge Stephanie Cutter blamed the politics of the Romney/Ryan campaign for that fact that Benghazi is even an issue. Fox News’ Bret Baier, (who conducted the interview), reminded Cutter that it might be an issue because four people are dead. Deer-in-the headlights Stephanie merely doubled-down on her claim. I would expect nothing less from a woman who makes her living off spin and slander.

On Friday, The Carney undercut the State Department and the Intelligence Community with more dancing and double-talk:

While all of this has been raging, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has remained largely incognito. She emerged Friday to address the Center for Strategic and International Studies. However, her speech did little to bring clarity or direction. From the Boston Herald:

“‘We do not have all the answers. No one in this administration has ever claimed otherwise.

“‘We are providing the best information we have at that time and that information continues to be updated, it also continues to be put into context and more deeply understood through the process we are engaged in,’ she said.”

The U.S. Intelligence community is not taking lightly these apparent efforts to hang this mess around their neck. In a piece in the UK Daily Mail, it highlights a joint statement by Michael Hayden, ex-CIA director, and Michael Chertoff, former head of Homeland Security. Hayden and Chertoff  call out the Obama administration on their thinly veiled attempts to make Intelligence a scapegoat.

“During the Vice Presidential debate, we were disappointed to see Vice President Biden blame the intelligence community for the inconsistent and shifting response of the Obama Administration to the terrorist attacks in Benghazi,’ they said in the statement.

“Given what has emerged publicly about the intelligence available before, during, and after the September 11 attack, it is clear that any failure was not on the part of the intelligence community, but on the part of White House decision-makers who should have listened to, and acted on, available intelligence. Blaming those who put their lives on the line is not the kind of leadership this country needs.”

EX-CIA Chief slams Biden for throwing U.S. Intelligence Community under the bus

Brutal.

But an even more fatal blow was rendered by Pat Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, when she appeared on CNN decrying the loss of her son’s life, and calling out the administration for its obstructionism and cowardice.

When families begin to call for your head, there is bound to be a reckoning, and rightly so. Let’s just hope it occurs before November 6.

Epic Fail: Benghazi-Gate

28 09 2012

Terrorist Attack on the U.S. Consulate at Benghazi, Libya that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and four other Americans.

During George W. Bush’s administration, I worked in the hotbed of leftism known as West Los Angeles. Lattes, law firms, and liberals as far as the eye could see. Many of the cars bore their political leanings, with hateful bumper stickers reflecting the Bush Derangement Syndrome that was rampant at the time. One in particular said, “If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”

This expression (and the bumper sticker h/t Zazzle) is making a comeback, and rightfully so–but this time, it’s the conservatives that are taking up the clarion call.

The Obama administration has overseen 42 months of 8 percent unemployment, a reduction of our credit rating, median household incomes dropping more than 8 percent, and gas and food prices soaring. This alone would represent an Epic Fail for any administration.

But it is President Obama’s ideological attachment to the Muslim world through appeasement and apology where he has doubled-down on failure.

On September 11, 2012, the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya was attacked. Ambassador Chris Stevens, defense contractor Sean Smith, and two other Americans were brutally murdered. What was the first act of this administration? Well, not much.

President Obama made a perfunctory speech which blamed a video which was critical of Islam. Mind you, this video originally appeared on YouTube in July. As I said on my Twitter feed, “The kicker? They were able to hold their ‘offense’ over this video in check until 9/11/2012, and then they unleashed. Yeah….”

Words like, “spontaneous attack” and “nothing to do with 9/11” were bandied about by the Carney, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the sycophant media. The President of Libya even said that this attack was indeed a pre-planned terrorist plot. He was dismissed as trying to deflect blame and protect his own interests.

To add insult to injury, President Obama trotted off to a campaign fundraiser in Las Vegas the evening after the attacks. Such a stunning show of leadership: The Middle East burned, Obama fundraised.

Despite the fact that this Benghazi debacle precipitated similar attacks in Cairo, Egypt and other U.S. embassies in the Middle East and Africa, our news media was obsessed with 1) blaming the video, and 2) pretending the world was not burning. Both of these takes outraged me greatly. Had this been the George W. Bush administration, there would be an immediate tie-in to the 9/11 date,  calls for investigations, and round-the-clock op eds about how the world hates us because of Bush.

The targeting and subsequent arrest of the filmmaker who made this video, and the administration’s attempts to  strong arm YouTube to pull the video down (they did not), continued to reflect the doubling-down on a ridiculous meme to cover over what was a horrific terrorist attack, on top of assaulting the First Amendment. Then there were the videos released in Palestine, featuring President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, effectively apologizing for the anti-Muslim video and for free speech.

President Obama even had the unmitigated gall to speak before the United Nations General Assembly and say “Peace is hard.” Gee, no sh%t, Sherlock! Then went into a defense of the Islamist crazies by saying, “The Future Must Not Belong to Those Who Slander the Prophet of Islam,” and tripled-down on the video meme. All of this while snubbing an urgent request by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet with him in New York about Iran’s race toward a nuclear bomb, yet making room for the culturally relevant nags of The View.

Two weeks of this dog and pony show has come crashing down on the Obama administration and the State Department, and not a moment too soon.

The on-top-of-it activists like Breitbart were out of the box to immediately call foul. The rest of the media started to show up a few days later. Eli Lake’s well-executed story in The Daily Beast showed U.S. Officials knew within 24-hours that this was indeed a well-planned and executed Al Qaeda terrorist attack.

“A spokesman for the National Security Council declined to comment for the story. But another U.S. intelligence official said, “I can’t get into specific numbers but soon after the attack we had a pretty good bead on some individuals involved in the attack.”

U.S. Officials Knew Libya Attacks Were Work of Al Qaeda Affiiliates.

In the days following U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice’s tour of the Sunday shows, the administration continued to flip, flop, deny, and lie. As the Ogden Nash’s poem says,  “Golly, how the truth will out!”–thankfully, their lies continued to be exposed.

Breitbart hit it out the park again, Joel Pollack revised a BDS-ism for his title to fit this current scandal: “People Died, Obama Lied“:

“Worse, the Obama administration inflamed the supposed outrage over the film by telling the world that the U.S. condemned it and was not responsible for it–even buying airtime on Pakistani television to broadcast that apologetic message.

“It also sent a signal that American principles of free expression were up for negotiation by suggesting that free speech did not include the right to insult other people’s religions, and Islam in particular.

“Now, as new details emerge every day about what the Obama administration knew and when, it is clear that President Barack Obama lied shamelessly to the American people about a terror attack that claimed American lives.

“The lies were repeated by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and UN Ambassador Susan Rice, among other officials. That the lies were likely told for political reasons is not an excuse but cause for additional alarm. (emphasis mine)

“The reason the Obama administration believes it can get away with the lies is that it has done so before–and the media have generally looked the other way.”

Finally, Michael Graham of the Boston Herald joins the truth team (NOT Obama’s): Prez Weaves a Web of Lies:

“Last week, Obama sent Secretary of State Hillary Clinton out to say the FBI was on top of the investigation in Libya. FBI Associate Deputy Director Kevin Perkins told Congress on Sept. 19 that an investigation was underway.

“Actually, Mr. President . . . no. As of this writing, no FBI agent has even arrived in Benghazi. CNN reports the “crime scene” has yet to even be secured.

“And on Tuesday, Mr. President, you gave a speech at the United Nations about the violence against America, in which you mentioned YouTube a half-dozen times, but didn’t use the word “terrorist” or “terrorism” once.

“Actually, Mr. President . . . that’s just pathetic.

“Karl Rove just said ‘Mr. Obama has taken ordinary political differences beyond anything we’ve seen.’

“I’m with Rove. I’ve seen ‘spin,’ I’ve seen parsing ‘the definition of “is,”‘ but I’ve never seen anything like this avalanche of outright lies.”

Neither have I. I am paying attention, and I am more than outraged.

Are you?

In My Orbit: We are NOT the Zero Percent…

The Girl has been having way too much fun on Twitter today (and gaining some new followers to boot)! All because of a skewed poll.

The collective wisdom of NBC News and the Wall Street Journal put out a poll that gives our dear President Obama a four point lead over Governor Mitt Romney. What is noteworthy about this poll’s details is that it says Mitt Romney has zero… you heard me, Z-E-R-O percent of the Black vote. Read the details for yourself: NBC/WSJ Poll: Heading into conventions, Obama has four-point lead.

Apparently I missed the call from NBC, because they never asked me. I’m Black and I will be voting for Mitt Romney. You can click on my tag for “Obama” “B.H. Obama” and “Obama Presidency” to read the posts that highlight all my reasons why. Off the top of my head, I can name at least 10 Black people whom I know personally that will be casting their vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket. Then there are the hundreds of Blacks that I know peripherally, either on Facebook, Twitter or some other form of networking, who will also be casting their vote for Romney/Ryan. So what gives?

More interesting than this poll’s obviously flawed sampling, is the backlash from some known Black Conservatives, and a multitude of us lesser-known ones. We are here, we are vocal, and we are tired of being marginalized!

Shout out to my new favorite conservative blogger, Kira Davis who was the first person I read who pointed out this ridiculous: “Did the ‘professionals’ at NBC/WSJ even leave their own office buildings to conduct this poll? ”

A just question, since when looking at both the masthead of WSJ and the faces on NBC News, you wonder where the diversity lies in these organizations… but I digress.

For the past few days the hastag #BlackConservativesforRomney has been trending on Twitter, and we have been having a pahtay!, pointing out this polls false conclusions, pointing out why President Obama does not deserve a second term, and getting to know each other in our collective stand against the ridiculous meme that we do not exist.

Twitchy was smart enough to pick up on this trend, and The Blaze also took note. Haven’t heard from CNN, Fox or any other news outlets on this, but they tend to always be late to the party.

The law of unintended consequences–methinks WSJ and NBC did not envision this when they ran with this story.

#Epic Fail for them–maximum exposure for #BlackConservativesforRomney!

As an additional shout out, here’s a documentary video from Hip-Hop Republican.  And these are the young people:

In My Orbit: A Tale of Two Videos

17 08 2012

Digital Image courtesy of Danilo Rizzuti / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

It’s actually a tale of three, but I loved the title and didn’t want to change it!

It is the story of my life that in most social and business situations, I am among the few, if not the lone Black person. It is more a point of curiosity, than a point of discomfort, and when I am among the chosen few, I sometimes sit back and observe the level of discomfort among the other Blacks in the same situation. I find this kind of sad–something I’ll expound upon on another day.

My friends have always been people of different races, and I am happy to say I have never experienced racial animus in my 27 years of working life. I have been persecuted for being smart and efficient (too many times), but never, ever, because I was Black.

This doesn’t mean I’ve never experienced racism, been called a nigger, or had negative fallout from being Black; that would be unrealistic and untrue. I’m just saying that compared to what my parents and grandparents had to walk through, my life thus far has been a cakewalk.

My mother grew up in the deep South (Arkansas and Tennessee), suffered under Jim Crow, and had lots of racist horrors perpetrated against her and those she loved. So while I could not agree with her perspective on all white people, I did understand her mistrust and hostility toward them; except at the voting booth: Mamma made sure Richard J. Daley stayed in power by voting straight Democrat every election. Heck, the way Chicago runs elections, she’s probably still voting, even though she passed in 2001. This type of disconnected political thinking exemplifies by some in my family (and other Blacks) has always befuddled me… but I digress.

Now to Video #1, which I cannot embed here, unfortunately, but here is the link: The Daily Caller: Toure-Niggerization of Obama.

The video comes from MSNBC’s “The Cycle,”, which should tell you all you need to know right there. Apparently the co-host Touré  said that Governor Mitt Romney was using racial code against President Obama.

How Touré and his ilk come to these perspectives mystifies me. These Gen X and Gen Y Blacks who grew up with more privilege than my mother could have ever imagined, who didn’t have to use the back door or sit in the back of the bus, yet somehow they look for, and find racism under every rock.

Here is my theory: we have become so far removed from REAL racism, that we feel the need to dig it up as the excuse for all ills against Blacks in general, and this so-called Black President, in particular. It makes no difference that he is doing an abysmal job (unemployment above 8 percent for three years, 1.5 percent GDP growth), and that he seems to care less about the rule of law or actually working within the bounds of his office, using executive privilege like “get-out-of-jail-free” cards.

Yet, this meme is being plugged among the mainstream media, and among Black communities. Setting up the President as some new Black martyr, to cover up and excuse what is simply fecklessness, lies, and overreach.

Which leads to Video #2, another MSNBC laughfest, which has Ron Reagan (son of the late President Ronald Reagan and now a liberal commentator), saying he is “astounded” at the level of disrespect from Republicans toward President Obama. Why? It must be because he’s Black!

I snagged the video off a relative’s Facebook page where said relative ranted (and used scripture) that we need to respect the office of the President, and that this treatment of President Obama is obviously racist. I rebutted this view in the comments, then left the page. This is also a discussion for another day.

It continues to amaze me that when it is mentioned that our economic situation is dire, and the two wars we are in continue  to drag on and on, that Blacks and others always want to blame George W. Bush. But when it comes to the maligning and disrespect of the office of the President, President Bush is conveniently forgotten.

One of my nephews expressed outrage when Representative Joe Walsh famously yelled, “You Lie!” during President Obama’s 2009 State of the Union. My nephew immediately labeled Representative Walsh as a racist. When I mentioned in the comments that worse things were said and done to President George W. Bush, my other nephew commented, “Well, he was an idiot!”, as if that excused what was done toward President Bush while he held that same office.

Appropriately named “Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS)” by Charles Krauthammer, BDS started manifesting sometime before the 2004 elections, and became a full-blown epidemic once President Bush’s reelection was secured. Terms like “BushMcHitler”, T-shirts that read: “BuckFush”, “Kill Bush”, and assassination artwork and films all targeted our 43rd President. It was all Bush-bashing, all the time, and rarely did I hear any protest about “respect” for the office of the President, even if we disagreed with his policies. Crickets, from the Left and in many cases on the Right–no one was clean.

Michelle Malkin recently reminded us of exactly how hateful the climate was, and how conveniently Dems and Leftists forget this, now that they are trying to protect their pet President. How Quickly They Forget.

Dems and Leftists also acquire convenient amnesia about President Obama having a fully Democrat House and Senate at his disposal for the first two years of his presidency. Despite his promise of a  “laser-like focus” on jobs, he decided to push through a bloated stimulus, where Solyndra, SunPower and foreign companies got much of the money, and to work at instituting Obamacare, which is already costing us more than it’s actually giving back.

If President Obama was any color other than Black, we’d be calling for his impeachment and doing all we could to get someone else elected. But not so. Any criticism or obstruction to this President is because Republicans, the Tea Party, and anyone who disagrees with his policies are simply racists.

Which leads me to the Video #3. I found this gem via HotAir. Ms. Kira Davis‘ “Open Letter to Toure of MSNBC” says it much more succinctly and articulately than I ever could. This young, Black, conservative woman remained respectful, while speaking truth to power.

Ms. Davis opens up a greater argument: all this irresponsible, and dare I say, illegitimate bandying around of these terms cheapens and waters down what was truly reprehensible and racist in our past, and any acts of present-day racism that still exist. This nonsense needs to stop, and it needs to first stop with the people who were (and still are) affected by it.

I’ve said it before, and I say it again: This is not a fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream, but a perpetuation of a fraud.

Wake up, my people.

Epic Fail

19 07 2012

Hoisted by His Own Petard

I don’t think President Obama thought that his lovely speech in Roanoke, Virginia letting small business owners know that “you didn’t build that!” would be such an Epic Fail, and cause a rallying cry nicely represented in the blogosphere, Twitterverse, and especially the Mitt Romney campaign. I can’t wait to hear the increase in fundraising numbers for Romney after July 13, 2012.

But that’s not the only Epic Fail of this Administration’s campaign strategy. The memes of “Romney is a felon”, “Romney is an outsourcer”, and “Romney is hiding something in his taxes” are petering out faster than a three-year-old’s birthday balloon.

Breibart, Washington Times, and the Wall Street Journal all spotlight articles that show these attacks are revealing more about the real Obama than they are about Romney. The stories also point to polls that show Obama is losing his likability rating–the one thing he has been able to hold onto despite his dismal job in leading the nation.

Now new attention is being paid to the tax-paying habits (or lack thereof–hello, Timothy Geitner) and offshore bank accounts of Democratic leadership, including Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Nancy Pelosi.  An article from January, written by Andrew Malcolm over at Investor’s Business Daily is getting new legs. His investigative work revealed 36 of Obama’s aides who owe $833,000 in back taxes.

“The IRS’ 2010 delinquent tax revelations come as part of a required annual agency report on federal employees’ tax compliance. Turns out, an awful lot of folks being paid by taxpayers are not paying their own income taxes.

“The report finds that thousands of federal employees owe the country more than $3.4 billion in back taxes. That’s up 3% in the past year.

“That scale of delinquency could annoy voters, hard-pressed by their own costs, fears and stubbornly high unemployment despite Joe Biden’s many promises.”

Pot, meet kettle.

As Obama demands the rich Americans pay more taxes, the IRS reveals 36 Obama aides are far behind in theirs.

If Governor Mitt Romney does win the Presidency in November, we can rightly point to President Obama’s Roanoke speech as the wind that changed the campaign’s direction. For someone who rode into office in large part on his ability to inspire and “speechify”, this would make for an even more crushing loss.

All You’re ever Gonna be is Mean

This Epic Fail I simply, love, love, LOVE.

In the 2008 Presidential campaign, the Mainstream Media, Leftists, and Progressives did it’s ugly best to destroy Governor Sarah Palin and her family, making Bristol Palin and Sarah’s newborn son Trig (who was born with Downs Syndrome), part of their focus. Senator John McCain lost the presidency (in large part due to John McCain), and these miscreants licked their chops, wiped their hands and considered their deed was done.

Four years later, I cackle with glee to see that Sarah Palin is a bigger thorn in their side than she EVER would have been as a Vice President. Sarah is a major face of the Tea Party movement, endorses and supports Republican candidates, and through her Facebook page and Fox News commentary, she continues to contribute and control the political debate (Remember “death panels”?)

Now I cackle even louder to see that Bristol Palin is nicely following in her mother’s footsteps.

Via Twitchy.com (fast becoming one of my favorite go-to sites), Bristol Palin decided to create a photo campaign at her Bristol’s Blog entitled, “#IBuiltThis”:

“Since the President doesn’t understand how our economy works, let’s take a moment to explain how small businesses are created…  More importantly, let’s show him the businesses we’ve made and who has made them.  Please send me your photos — either e-mail me (via BristolsBlog @ gmail.com, without the space!) or tweet me at this blog’s brand new Twitter account (@BristolsBlog) using the hashtag #IBuiltThis.”

The hashtag is trending, with Twitter users submitting their own photos. Not only is she contributing to the debate, but giving others a voice to do the same.

What’s that expression? Success is the best revenge.

As the Beatle’s song says, “I read the news today–Oh, boy!” The usual assortment of the good, the bad, the ugly, and even the downright entertaining!

The Kids Are Not Alright

According to an analysis by the nonprofit, nonpartisan group YoungInvincibles, Youth Joblessness will drone on, and prospects of a future upswing look bleak. The bad news, from Yahoo! News:

“The unemployment rate for 16- to 24-year-olds now stands at 16.5 percent, more than double the rate for the population at large (8.2 percent). For Latino youth, the rate is 20.5 percent, and for African-American youth, 30.2 percent. Fewer than half of all young Americans hold any kind of job at all, says the report.

These numbers, while daunting, fail to take include young people who have given up looking for work and dropped out of the labor force altogether.”

Youth Joblessness: No End in Sight.

All I can say is, welcome to real world, youngins. When you vote for tropes like Hope and Change, you pretty much get neither. My wish is that you choose better this go-round, but I won’t hold my breath.

Colored People

Apparently Governor Mitt Romney plans to speak to the NAACP on Wednesday. I ask myself, Why? But, that’s a blog post for another day.

President Barack Obama cannot break away from his busy fundraising and campaigning schedule to speak to the organization who got out the vote for him in 2008. So who is he sending?… Vice President Joe Biden. That’s a comedy sketch ready to be written.

A bunch of white progressive liberals decided to make the joke on Romney by dubbing him “too white for Blacks to like.” Riddle me this? What do a bunch of entitled media-elite white men know about what is “too white” for Black people? Did they quiz their Black friends? Hire a Black media consultant? Put Dave Chappelle or Chris Rock on retainer? And if they did this, why not give the brotha (or sista) some credit?

And they call conservatives and the Tea Party racist? SMH.

Still shaking my head over the Morgan Freeman NPR interview. According to Morgan, Obama is not our first Black President. I’ve been saying that since he was elected in 2008, so big whoop. However, the fact that the President can’t get ahead with his agenda is not his fault–it’s Republican obstructionism. Can we get some cheese with that whine?

The first two years of his Presidential term he had a full Democratic House and Senate, pushed through the Porkulus package that was supposed to keep unemployment below 8 percent #FAIL!, and got Obamacare Obamatax passed. So can we also color Morgan confused?

I have loved Morgan Freeman on screen since The Electric Company, but like most celebs, when it comes to politics, he is off his nut.

Obla de Obla da Life Goes On…

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention our old friends, the Occupy Movement. There was a National Gathering mounted for 4th of July weekend, appropriately dubbed “The Occupy National Gathering” or #NatGat for the Twitterverse.

Occupy just refuses to go gently into that good night, and apparently the event went over like a lead balloon. The skinny from Breitbart’s Big Government site:

“The turnout was awful. The Guardian said about 500 people showed up for the National Gathering. There’s no real excuse for that since the event has been promoted for months. Philadelphia was actually a great choice for a location and not just for symbolic reasons; it’s an easy train ride from a number of cities that had significant Occupy presences, including New York City, Washington D.C. and Boston. Even bringing a small percentage of the Occupiers in those cities should have culled a far higher number.

If the attendance was pathetic, the fundraising was downright humiliating.  The Occupy National Gathering put up a fundraising page with the modest goal of $15,000. […]

“Total raised for Occupy National Gathering according to their website : $600. Not a typo. Six. Hundred. Dollars.  There are church bake sales in small towns that bring in more ducats than that. “

In Occupy’s defense, there was record heat in the East Coast that weekend. On second thought, when there are good barbecues and fireworks going on, why waste your time on an essentially defunct movement? Missing you already, Occupy, missing you already.

Now we move from the entertaining, to the ridiculous.

Sitting Doing Nothing

The Wall Street Journal is being its usual helpful self by reporting that Sitting for more than 3 hours a day can cut your Life Expectancy. If this were true, I should really be dead by now!

Yet another medical study (published in BMJ Open, an online medical journal) that someone spent millions of dollars to mount. The amount of people who are unemployed and underemployed, and you couldn’t spend the money on something more… productive? And how many hours did these researchers spend sitting to research and write this drivel?

In protest, I decided to find Couch Potato; Weird Al Yankovic’s parody of Eminem’s Lose Yourself. BMJ Open can bite my sometimes sedentary, shapely Yoga ass.

Short People Got No Reason to Live

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the diminutive crusader (at 5 ft 6 inches) against salt, trans-fat, and now Big Gulp sodas is mounting a contest to stir development of 275- to 300- square-foot micro apartments. [Pause here for uproarious laughter]

“The ministudios will be just big enough for a bathroom, kitchen and sleeping and dining areas — but Bloomberg said tenants shouldn’t plan on doing much entertaining.”

Mayor Bloomberg launches contest to stir development of  tiny 300 square-foot apartment for singles.

So, what’s the point? Or are we trying to create a new generation of clown car?

The article also points out that, “Bloomberg’s 12,500-square-foot upper East Side townhouse is about 40 times as big as the micro units.” Bet he won’t be moving into one of those units, despite being the perfect size for them.

One more reason that I am thankful to live in Los Angeles. Smilin’ Tony may be the 11 percent Mayor of Los Angeles, but I’ll take a do-nothing over a meddler any day.

In My Orbit…

The political junkie in me is totally strung out today–too much news to discuss, so I’m hitting the larger themes.

Winners and Losers

I am not hiding the fact that I am thrilled, thrilled! at the victory of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker over the Union-backed recall effort to oust him from office. I would feel this way for any leader of principle who merely sought to deliver what he had promised to his constituents upon winning the election, then suffered a temper-tantrum from the Union strongholds, who were merely being asked to sacrifice like the rest of the state, but chose to instead mount a campaign to oust him. Well, the Unions lost spectacularly, and spent a lot of money doing so.

Both sides of the aisle are spinning it for their advantage, and the Left in particular is crying foul, “democracy died“, and blaming outside money and the 7-1 overspending of the Republican and Tea Party machines. I thought the Tea Party was dead?–psyched your mind!

It is interesting that those same liberals and leftists are not decrying the SuperPACs campaigning and collecting money for the Obama 2012 re-election or the deep pockets that President Obama is courting to contribute to his re-election coffers… but I digress.

For this transplanted Midwesterner from the freakishly blue state of Illinois to an even scarier blue state of California (both union strangleholds), this is just a huge coup. Signs of sanity are even evidencing themselves in Cali’s local elections: in a landslide vote, both San Jose and San Diego citizens approved ballot measures to cut pensions for city workers–so you know the dam is breaking. Now if it will only burst forth and wash Los Angeles in its reformist wake. I continue to hold out hope.

But back to Walker: that a leader says what he means, means what he says, and actually follows through with action is a rare thing to behold. But the greater fact that other people of principle rewarded Walker’s consistency, courage and stick-to-itedness by keeping him in office says volumes. And he won by a larger margin than he did in 2010! That’s something you aren’t hearing from the mainstream media outlets. Jonathan S. Tobin said it best: Courage Rewarded. Give it a read.

The Weekly Standard echoes this as well, but places the victory squarely where it belongs:

“Walker turned a $3.6 billion deficit into a $154 million surplus. Unemployment is down. So are property taxes. Businesses, even with uncertainty about the U.S. economy, are optimistic about the direction of the state. Even with the political divisions, it’s hard to imagine a more successful 16 months as governor.

“Results matter. And that, more than anything else, explains why Scott Walker won.”

No matter what pundits have to say, it will have a resounding effect on the November elections and the political process at large. My sweet home Chicago Tribune attests to this in an editorial today:

“On Tuesday, a majority of the voters who for a year and a half have spent the most time weighing those sorts of numbers reaffirmed that they think their Wisconsin governments had grown too elephantine, too expensive.

“There’s another elephant in the room: Act 10 ended the compulsory collection of union dues by government employers. It turns out that when workers have a free choice of whether to keep paying, many decide that it isn’t worth the money. We were surprised last week by a Wall Street Journal report that Wisconsin membership in the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees plummeted from 62,818 in March 2011 to 28,745 in February 2012. At the American Federation of Teachers, 6,000 of 17,000 Wisconsin members have walked away.

“Drop-offs that stark have implications not only for the unions, but also for politicians who rely on union donations to fund their campaigns.” (emphasis mine)

Unions will be less of a piggy bank for political causes, because the very workers who fund their efforts will now have more of a voice on how their dues are used; and in some cases, will be able to choose to not retain union membership. That’s a big deal.

He’s Baaack!

Because certain Angeleans continue to be useful idiots, the city will once again be subjected to a near traffic shutdown with yet another fundraising visit from our President. I continue to be thankful that I no longer work anywhere near the West side. Let the NIMBYs in Bev Hills and Brentwood have what they deserve!

I just love these Hitler videos. Speaks to both of my musings quite nicely.

Black Heritage Month: Week 2–Black Genocide

16 02 2012

I recently read an article in Religion Dispatches by Sikivu Hutchinson titled “God’s Body, God’s Plan: The Komen Furor and Abortion as Black/Latino ‘Genocide'”. An interesting, and well-written read, though I thorougly disagree with everything she posits.

Ms. Hutchinson holds to the argument that a woman’s “right” to do with her body what she wishes should be wholesale protected by the government. It’s part of “reproductive justice” and that blanket term: “family planning”. She holds the belief that the ills suffered by women and children of color are because these services are not readily available and protected, and that the pro-life lobby and its work to eradicate abortion is part of the work to maintain a racist power structure. Huh?

Specifically in her cross-hairs is a group called The International Coalition of Color for Life, founded by Eve Sanchez Silver. Ms. Hutchinson first minimizes Ms. Sanchez Silver, a Latina, with the throwaway description of her background: “a former medical research analyst for and charter member of the Komen Foundation, has been a leading advocate against Planned Parenthood within Komen.”

In fact, Ms. Sanchez Silver is more than that–she has a very impressive background in science and research. You can read her bio and find out for yourself. She also resigned from Komen after they chose to develop a relationship with Planned Parenthood;  so the “within Komen” statement is misleading, if not false.

In typical liberal fashion, Ms. Hutchinson cherry picks and uses the most stark images and statements from the website to build a straw man argument against the notion that abortion is being used as a form of Black Genocide. She sees abortion as a necessary service to help protect women of color, and prevent the high rate of out-of-wedlock births, foster children and incarcerated youth of color. Since Roe v. Wade’s institution in 1973, the United States has legally protected a woman’s right to obtain an abortion. Yet, none of those rates she mentions have been reduced–in fact, some of them have increased. You would think close to 40 years of abortion rights would have proven her argument, but apparently not.

Ms. Hutchinson also argues that to use Planned Parenthood’s founder Margaret Sanger‘s work and writings as a basis  “to vilify abortion, anti-abortion foes of color are actually savaging women’s right to agency.” Ms. Hutchinson even parades out the black leaders who were Sanger’s contemporaries, who backed her work: Dr. Martin Luther King, Mary McCleod Bethune, Ida B. Wells, and so on. This feels equivalent to certain Blacks paraded out by news organizations and political parties to prove their cause is just; however, it gives no basis of proof toward the validity of the cause just because certain people of color support it. But, I digress.

As a pro-life Black woman, I have watched this debate on both side for years. As a writer, I’ve seen the massaging of terms and wording on both sides to try to reshape the argument in their favor. Those opposed to abortion have re-crafted the language from “anti-abortion” to “pro-life”, from “crisis pregnancy centers” to “women’s centers” in order to re-frame their point-of-view. On the converse, terms like “family planning”, “reproductive rights”, and “birth control” are being used in the same way, to camouflage the fact that the act of abortion is central to their focus.

And now the latest term of “women’s health care” is being used to support the so-called pro-choice advocacy for wholesale government-funding of abortions and abortifacients.  A position strongly supported by our first Black President, who claims to “respect” religious liberties, even when he continues to trample upon them. Catholic Bishops aren’t buying it, and from their Wall Street Journal editorial, neither are David B. Rivkin, Jr. and Edward Whelan:

President Obama claims to respect Religious Liberties–offers token compromise

WSJ: Birth Control Mandate–Unconstitutional and Illegal.

I took enough women’s studies classes where Ms. Sanger’s goals and writings were presented in a glowing light, to have made up my own mind about her: she was a racist with genocidal intentions wrapped in a pretty package of benevolence.

Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist, and believed (as much as Adolph Hitler) in an elite race, and the elimination of any inferior races that would poison the well. Hitler had the Jews, homosexuals, and the infirm on his hit list; Sanger had the “feeble-minded”, poor immigrants, and minorities on hers. Her argument for “birth control” was to work toward the limitation of those inferior elements, so that superior races could thrive. Books like The Pivot of Civilization, and Women and the New Race trumpet these beliefs with brazen authority. Taken on their face, they present logical arguments that are totally antithesis to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness for anyone except those she deemed “fit”.

With 17-million (and counting) black babies aborted through the work of Planned Parenthood, the organization Ms. Sanger founded seems well on its way to accomplishing her vision. While the Rev. Al Sharpton, Michael Eric Dyson, and other supposed black leaders are obsessed with calling anyone who opposes President Obama and his policies a racist, and slapping labels of “Uncle Tom” and “House Nigga” on Black conservatives like Shelby Steele and Congressman Allen West, you hear crickets from these same leaders about Planned Parenthood’s targeting of minority communities under the guise of “family planning” and “women’s health”.

Just as W.E.B. Dubois and Dr. Martin Luther King, were seduced by Margaret Sanger’s benevolent claims to understand and assist in the “Negro problem”, we have our modern-day equivalents advocating and shilling for “women’s reproductive rights” for a number of reasons. Some have drunk the Kool-Aid, others want the media recognition, but many others either want the financial gain (read: campaign contributions) or the votes. So, not much has changed.

Like Sikivu Hutchinson, Cynthia Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution argues that the term “Black Genocide” is nonsense. Also like Ms. Hutchinson, Ms. Tucker uses ONE pro-life advocate (Johnny Hunter of Life Education and Resource Network-LEARN) as her whipping boy, pointing out how radical he is because he considers abortion a means to wipe out the black race. So extreme!

She builds her own straw man argument with these ridiculous statements:

“Oddly, the most vociferous critics of Planned Parenthood are also the least likely to support plans and proposals that might actually lower the abortion rate — among black women as well as among white and brown women.”

Abstinence education, and women’s centers that cater to ladies with unplanned pregnancies and offer alternatives that don’t involve termination are funded and supported by these critics she talks about. But I guess Ms. Tucker doesn’t consider those viable plans and proposals to getting the abortion rate down.

And then, Ms. Tucker trumpets her biggest fallacy: ” If birth control pills and devices were cheaper and more widely available, more women would use them. Unplanned pregnancies would drop. The abortion rate would decline.”

My young-adult niece would go to parties in Hollywood where they passed out free contraceptive samples and free condoms. When I had no insurance, this Black woman found discounts on my birth control pills. Heck, they pass out free condoms  in schools–so WHAT is Ms. Tucker talking about?

The Guttmacher Institute presented a revelatory report on Abortions in the United States. Just a snippet of their findings:

“Fifty-four percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the condom or the pill) during the month they became pregnant. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of condom users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13% of pill users and 14% of condom users report correct use.” (emphases mine.)

So more than half of abortions sought were by women who used contraception either incorrectly or inconsistently. Ms. Tucker’s treatise has hit bottom, yet she continues to dig.

I am thankful that there is still a percentage of my people who refuse to fall for the twin ruses of “women’s health” and “women’s reproductive rights”. Organizations like The International Coalition of Color for LifeLEARNLife DynamicsThe National Black Pro-Life UnionNational Black Pro-Life Coalition, and hundreds of others, are taking a stand to battle the continued encroachment of deception and lies.

Saysumthn‘s WordPress blog did an awesome video presentation in 2010 highlighting religious and civic leaders, and every day people, who are choosing to stand up for the lives of Black babies. Though a few years old, it is even more relevant in 2012: Black Genocide: African-American Leaders Speak Out.

Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, and Director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life made a statement opposing the abortion mandate housed in Obamacare. Dr. Alveda King said:

“What really is racist is singling out minorities, who now receive about two-thirds of the abortions in this country, for discriminatory treatment[…]”

“Those of us who care about the civil rights of all Americans, born and unborn, oppose Obamacare because we oppose the expansion of the most racist industry in America – the abortion industry.”
Black people, where will you stand?
